The dark side of WhatsApp

We know the tips for using it better, its shortcuts, some viruses that have affected it, and almost everything about WhatsApp. At this point, the application no longer needs any presentation. However, there are certain things we still do not know when it comes to the most popular messaging tool in the world. I will now reveal the dark side of the app, ie the conditions we accept when we install WhatsApp.

Not to exaggerate when estimating that much more than half of WhatsApp users are unaware of the permissions they give application developers when they install it. What happens to your conversations, shared images? Today I will spell out the damp letters that everyone should read.

Change in conditions

The first thing that should be clear that this app reserves the right to change the conditions of use at any time.without notice. That way, we have to inform ourselves at regular intervals about the permissions we give WhatsApp.

Minimum age

Many people ignore that to be able to use this application, the person must be at least 16 years. If this is not the case, parental consent is required to use WhatsApp.

Warranties and security

  • The first controversial aspect of WhatsApp is the fact that not guarantee that the conversations or files we exchange are confidential. The problem of security in the app and in our private conversations has given us a lot to talk about, and it seems that it will continue to be so for a long time;
  • In addition, I must also point out that conversations in WhatsApp are not deleted, they are only hidden and archived in the app database (including our status updates);
  • WhatsApp also keeps all the information of our contacts, since we send the app our phone number, our calendar with the information of each contact (name, email address and all details entered before adding the contact). To this end, WhatsApp gives itself special rights, that is, it rests on the assumption that we already had permission from our contacts regarding your private information. In other words, WhatsApp washes hands at any denunciation, and the responsibility always rests with the user.

<h2 id=Prohibitions
  • It is prohibited to use WhatsApp for commercial purposes as it is a strictly personal application. Purchases, advertising, etc. are not allowed in app chats;
  • The use of bots to send mass messages or spam is strictly prohibited;
  • Sexual content is not explicitly prohibited, but a warning is required, for example with +18 emoticons or an X;
  • It is forbidden to use WhatsApp code to develop clone or copy applications (good examples are illegal tools that hide the last connection time or spy the conversations);
  • It is also prohibited to send content that does not belong to us. By violating intellectual property, for example, WhatsApp will hold you responsible;
  • The same goes for illegal website links, for example.

Obligations and consequences

  • If you lose your smartphone or if it is stolen, you should write an email to WhatsApp informing you. So we will be exempt from liability if anyone violates a rule with our account;
  • By violating any of WhatsApp's rules of use, its developers may delete it without prior explanation;
  • We have 12 months to report in-app incidents (viruses, robs, spam, etc.). After this period, the violation prescribes.

In short, WhatsApp has stipulated rules of use that shield it from virtually any liability, and it's all up to us, the simple users. Did you know these conditions? What do you think about them?
