Students' interest in joining computing has been increasing year after year. In 2018 (year of the last Higher Education Census available), 143,557 students enrolled in courses in the area, up 26.12% compared to 2017, which registered 113,825. In the same period, the Information Systems, preferred among students, jumped from 51,545 to 80,781, up 56.7%.

This was also influenced by the increase in the offer of distance learning courses. In 2018, one in three students opted for the EaD. In the Information Systems course, the proportion rises to 44%.

And the job market for technology?

To select the top 10 wages in the technology, we analyzed 23 different occupations among the data of the CAGED (General Register of Employed and Unemployed), in 2019. Altogether, they generated 60,323 hires in the year, with a balance (difference between admissions and dismissals) of 11,940. In other words, new jobs were created and new employees were not hired just to replace others.

Speaking of remuneration, only 1 of the occupations had a salary drop from one year to the next and only 2 had a lesser increase than inflation (measured by the index IPCA, which was 4.3%). This means that, in addition to the high demand, occupations in the area of computing and technology are also experiencing a real increase in wages, generating great income.

This makes the courses generate an interesting phenomenon of high employability already at the time of professional training, not being so affected by the economic crisis.
