Tests show: iOS 10 shows performance similar to its predecessor on all iPhones, except when it starts

Most users who have already updated their devices and are taking advantage of the wonderful new features of iOS 10, especially the new emojis, are also reporting a relatively smoother experience with the user interface and the overall usability of the system. A series of videos published by the channel iAppleBytes on YouTube come to raise some discussion on this topic.

The testers made extensive tests with all generations of the iPhone with support for iOS 10 5, 5s, 6 and 6s placing two identical devices side by side, one running iOS 9.3.5 and the other already in the final version of the new system. The main difference between all of them was in the device startup time: in the case of the iPhone 5, iOS 10 took an additional 15 seconds to complete the boot; in the case of the iPhone 6s, that difference was only 3 seconds.

In terms of overall usability, consistent behavior across generations: iOS 10 seems to be a slower hair to complete some tasks (although there are exceptions), but the feeling that the system is more fluid and more pleasant to use.

Tip: mute the video. The bad soundtrack.

This phenomenon deeply explained in this section of the iOS 10 review by AnandTech, and the basic reason for this is that Apple is putting a renewed emphasis on more fluid animations, at 60 frames per second, in the new generation of its mobile operating system.

Basically, in summary: as iOS has become more complex and present in screens with higher resolutions in recent years, this smoothness in the animations has been drastically decreasing, but with the new release Ma wants to be the queen of fluidity again with a series of adjustments in the system code.
