1. Create a shortcut document

I don't need to open the main Google Docs page to create a document quickly. Instead, you can use a browser shortcut: in the address bar, type doc.new and press Enter to open a new Docs file on the fly. 2. Arrange text with titles

Format the document using the title tool: use title 1 for primary, titles 2 for secondary, title 3 for third, and so on. 3. Use keyboard shortcuts

Google speech recognition is available as a dictation function within Google Docs. The handy feature for typing without typing, ideal for resting your hands or producing nimble text when you don't have to worry so much about formatting. 5. Type sentences with a command

Docs' automatic override function can help you type snippets that often repeat themselves in different text or documents. Access preferences from the Tools menu and check Auto Override. 6. Enter Google content

Google allows you to search the web without leaving a Google Docs document. Access the Explore feature from the Tools menu to open the browser in a right-hand panel. 7. Move block paragraphs

Google Docs has a very useful command to make it easier to edit blocky text. Access the Tools menu, press Translate Document and select a translation language the system automatically identifies the original language of the text. Google records a history of all edits made and saved to an online document and allows you to revert to a previous version. The feature is very useful in collaboratively edited texts that can get messy as many people contribute. To access the record, open the File> Version History> View Version History menu and browse through older document variants. The editor records the name and time when the edit was performed. Select one of the versions and use the button in the upper right corner to restore.

10. Edit and save as Word

Word files are very popular, but that doesn't stop you from using Docs as your main text editor. If a Microsoft file is in Drive, just right-click it and select Open With> Google Docs to edit in Docs without changing the .docx format. In addition, any file originally created on Google's online platform can be downloaded in Word format to your computer: go to File> Download> Microsoft Word.
