Synchronization and usability
WhatsApp and Telegram offer different types of desktop login. In the case of WhatsApp, to synchronize accounts between phone and computer, I need to scan the QR Code displayed on the web page with the camera phone. WhatsApp web acts as a kind of extension of the app's functions on the computer, so you can't use it without an internet connection to maintain data synchronization.

Telegram web users must enter the phone number registered with the messenger to receive a code that must be entered on the site to activate the desktop account and perform synchronization. Telegram web has mobile-independent access, which can be an advantage or a disadvantage as, despite its practicality, it means less security.

Once synchronized, the services have very similar uses. They allow you to search contacts, conversations and messages, and start a private conversation or create a new group. However, audio recording works differently: while in WhatsApp simply clicking the microphone icon to record a voice message, Telegram requires the user to hold the record button with the cursor for the entire audio.
Both services offer sending emoji, stickers and GIFs. Despite launching the sticker tool before WhatsApp, Telegram web has slightly more complicated use of stickers. Unlike the app, on the PC the user must type "@gif" and a keyword in the message bar to find a matching GIF.
WhatsApp web introduces the feature just as it does in the mobile app: the function is located next to emojis and stickers, more conveniently.

WhatsApp and Telegram interfaces are similar, intuitive and user friendly. Contacts appear in the left corner, while the conversation content is displayed right. A closer look may consider Telegram a bit lighter, for its cooler colors (white and blue) and the centralization of messenger functions on the screen.
WhatsApp has a slightly heavier interface with blocky conversations and patterned backgrounds. However, both web services have a very practical and intuitive layout of functions and very similar to those of apps. In neither messenger the user is lost or has difficulty finding what he wants.

Telegram web and WhatsApp web have very similar basic functions; These are small details that highlight the differences between the two. Both have searches within conversations and allow you to send audio, photos, videos and documents. The limitations are also repeated: it is not possible to share location in any of the messengers.
WhatsApp web, however, allows you to send contacts in conversations. This may be one of the few advantages that the desktop service is directly attached to the mobile device. Meanwhile, Telegram web does not feature the poll function, which is present in the mobile app. But the main feature that Telegram web does not offer is its famous secret chats. You cannot start secret chats or view them from your PC.

While WhatsApp web currently offers end-to-end encryption in all your conversations, Telegram web provides the measure of privacy only for secret chats feature missing on the desktop. That's why WhatsApp has more desktop security measures than its competitor.
End-to-end encryption is the technology that protects the content of messages during sending so that they can be read only by the sender and the recipient. Thanks to this technique, if the content is intercepted in the middle of the transmission, it is encrypted and the attacker will not be able to decrypt it without the encryption key. This technology allows not even messaging services to have access to the content of conversations.

Telegram web or WhatsApp web?
Both desktop versions have advantages and disadvantages and the choice of the best one depends on the user's goals. If the priority is secure, WhatsApp Web offers end-to-end encryption in all conversations, while Telegram does not provide this function on the desktop.
Although it became known as safer because it was the first to implement the privacy function in its secret chat, Telegram does not offer this function on the web and would therefore be less secure.
If the criterion is usability, there is almost a draw. Both messengers have good web functions and are very similar to mobile apps. In terms of interface, Telegram has the advantage of the cleaner layout, although both have user-friendly and intuitive interfaces.
Moreover, Telegram web's biggest advantage over WhatsApp is mobile-independent access. This feature allows, for example, that if the user loses the phone, he will not be incommunicado because he can enter the messenger through the computer.
