TeK Storefront: Smartphones and wireless chargers. 16 proposals with several options

Wireless charging is no longer a novelty, but it has yet to convince everyone. The range of smartphones and wearables that support this functionality is increasingly broad, and it is now possible to buy wireless chargers in any store, from the most classic to the most original. But it's worth?

We leave some suggestions of phones and chargers currently available in the national market.

How does wireless charging work?

Wireless charging works by magnetic induction – electromagnetic energy converted to battery power inside the phone. In practice, what consumers have to do: connect the current wireless charger, make sure they have a compatible smartphone and place it on top of the charger.

Does it work with all smartphones?

No. Samsung has supported wireless charging since the Galaxy S6, Huawei since the Mate 20 Pro and Apple started with the iPhone X and iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus. But there are more options, Xiaomi, LG, Sony and Nokia also already have models with this technology. Follow some of our suggestions below.

What is reversible wireless charging?

Some smartphones offer a feature called reversible wireless charging, that is, which allows you to charge other compatible smartphones. How? Through wireless charging. Just activate this option, place a smartphone against / over the other and let it charge. Huawei and Samsung are two of the brands with models already equipped with this technology.

Are all wireless chargers compatible?

Currently we can say yes. The Qi standard, developed by the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC), was adopted by the main smartphone manufacturers – Samsung, Apple, Sony, LG, HTC, Huawei, Nokia, Motorola and Blackberry and is being integrated on several platforms. Powermat still entered the race, but lost.

Qi has different energy specifications. 5W minimum, some devices support 7.5W, 10W and up to 15W. The next series of equipment can reach 25W. The higher the value, the faster the loading. When purchasing a wireless charger, make sure your phone is compatible with this technology.

Is it worth investing in a wireless charger?

It depends. Wireless chargers are practical, more aesthetic and very simple to use. If you spend several hours in a car, you can even replace the cable with a support that already integrates this technology. This way, you can freely use the phone and ensure that it is always charged. But there are also disadvantages

Benefits:

Easier to use SaferLess risk for incoming phone charging.More static (no cables) More convenience

Disadvantages:

Slower charging (fast charging is only valid for wired charging) Possible failures (phone may leak or touch and stop charging) You cannot use the phone and charge at the same time

If you are considering purchasing a wireless charger, be aware of three points:

  • There are models that work only as a base (phone is horizontal) and others as a stand (phone is vertical). This last model may be the most suitable for those who intend to use the charger on top of a desk, facilitating visualization and use.
  • Some chargers are slippery. The base is too smooth and the adhesion level is too low. That is, the probability of the phone sliding is higher, which can compromise the charging and the safety of the device. Opt for a model with a more fixed structure.
  • Check the compatibility of your phone.
