Syncing music, albums, and playlists from iPhone to Apple Watch

With the arrival of the Apple Watch Series 3 (GPS + Cellular) in Brazil, many users will be able to listen to music from Apple Music in the clock without the need to have the iPhone close by which is one of the great differentials of the model with cellular connectivity.

However, if you are not an Apple Music subscriber or if you have an Apple Watch without cellular connectivity, please be aware that it is possible to listen to some music on the watch without the iPhone nearby. For this, I need to synchronize music, albums and / or playlists on the phone.

Sync albums and playlists with Apple Watch

It is worth remembering that only the songs that are downloaded on the iPhone (in case you are an Apple Music subscriber) will be transferred to Watch.

Synced music to Apple Watch

  1. Place the Watch in the charger and keep it close to the iPhone;
  2. On the iPhone, make sure that Bluetooth is turned on;
  3. Open the Watch app;
  4. In the “My Watch” tab, tap on Music and then select “Add Music”;
  5. Select the album (s) or playlist (s) you want to sync to your Apple Watch.

It takes a while, but everything will be properly synchronized after you follow the step-by-step above.

Erase albums and playlists Apple Watch

If you are an Apple Music subscriber, playlists Mix: favorites and Mix: discoveries will be added automatically to your Apple Watch. You can also view other playlists according to the music you listen to the most. To disable this option and remove albums or playlists of the watch, follow the steps below:

  2. In the "My Watch" tab, tap "Music";
  3. To disable the playlists of Apple Music automatically synchronized, in the “Add automatically” section select the playlist you do not want and touch the button to disable;
  4. If you want to delete songs, albums or playlists, tap "Edit" in the upper right corner of the screen. Then, tap Button on the left side of each item to delete and confirm the action.

Setting playlists on Apple Watch

You can set up a playlist Apple Watch so that it starts playing automatically as soon as you start an activity. To do this, follow the instructions below:

  1. On the iPhone, open the Watch app;
  2. In the "My Watch" tab, select the "Exercise" option;
  3. Touch “Exercise Playlist” and select a list from those available.

THE playlist It is selected to be played automatically when you start a workout, unless you are already listening to something else. To prevent the Apple Watch multimedia controls from activating every time you play audio on your iPhone, check out this other tutorial we did.

  1. In Watch, open the Music app;
  2. At the top, tap "On iPhone";
