Super Mario Run launch breaks several App Store records, but lukewarm criticism drops Nintendo's stock [atualizado]

As we can all expect, Super Mario Run arrived in the App Stores of more than 150 countries and made a tremendous impact on the technological community, breaking a series of records from the Apple app store (some of them even taken from another certain property of Nintendo). However, not everything is just flowers: a considerable portion (and vocal) of users and specialized vehicles have, since the launch of the game, expressed mixed or negative opinions regarding it, which caused an unexpected fall of Nintendo's shares.

Super Mario Run

To start, according to the consulting company Apptopia, the game was downloaded impressive 2.85 million of times just in its first 24 hours of availability for a comparative effect, Pokmon GO had 900 thousand downloads on the first day (although we have to consider that the latter was initially launched in only 3 countries, against more than 150 of the new game from Italian plumber). Super Mario Run quickly climbed to the top of the list of most downloaded apps in more than 60 countries; it remains to be seen whether he will make Pokmon GO the honor of the most downloaded application in a week at the current pace, it seems to me an easy task, but we will see.

Want more numbers? Well know that the first Mario game for iOS generated approximately $ 4 million profit on its first day of existence, according to analyst App Annie below the $ 10 million generated by Pokmon GO at its peak, but still an impressive figure. The company also released its own download estimates for the game, stating that it was downloaded more than 10 million times on the first day, an assumption four times greater (and more impressive) than that of Apptopia.

It is good to note, however, that the comparisons between Pokmon GO and Super Mario Run cannot be deepened even because they are two absolutely different specimens: while the first brings some options of continuous engagement (and expense), Super Mario Run presents a unique charge that unlocks the entire game forever, the only expense required to play. In this way, the numbers of profits from the plumber's game are likely to drop significantly over time.

And another: it's not just numbers that make anything successful or fail, and, surprisingly, the public and critics' reception of Super Mario Run is being warmer than expected. On the App Store, the game's average rating of just 2.5 stars out of 5 possible; Most reviews are directed at the high fee charged to unlock the full version of the app ($ 10, that is, over R $ 35 counting the credit card IOF) and internet connection requirement to play.

Due to the lower than expected reception, developer DeNA's shares fell 14%, while Nintendo's own had a drop of approximately 13% since the launch of the game only on Monday (12/19), the Japanese giant saw its shares plummeted 7.1% on the fifth consecutive day of decline.

Actions are likely to be taken to improve the game's reputation, but we will see what happens from now on. I, on my side, am looking forward to playing Super Mario Run in that college room where a really boring class is taught and where no cell phone signal comes in, but please don't take me as an example.
