#stayathome: The online platform created by the Portuguese that challenges you to stay at home

Staying at home has been the concept spread around the world, with Portugal being no exception, due to a new epidemic that has not left anyone indifferent: the new Coronavirus. To encourage Europeans to comply with this call, Armazm Criativo and FES Agency, two creative agencies from Porto, have joined together to launch the online platform #stayathome, which allows users to show their closest contacts that they are at home , motivating their friends and family to do the same.

With social isolation being advised in the last few days, the initiative intends to draw the attention of the less informed population about the importance of staying at home, as a way to fight the virus. How? The more people show that they are at home, the more motivated it is expected that other people will be, too.

The website has two main strands, one of which is the emotional connection, in this case between family and friends, who, out of solidarity and care for each other, will understand the message and meet the challenge. On the other hand, it is expected to reach a large number of people through social networks.

In a statement, Liliana Castro, CEO of the FES Agency, explains that it is intended to reach people in a simple way, with social networks being used as a vehicle for the propagation of messages. "If we all do our part, the faster we can get over this moment – part of the solution could be communication, he says.

Ensuring that, as an agency, it aims to be a source of creativity and not contagion, the founding partners of Armazm Criativo ensure that they, too, have decided to voluntarily isolate themselves at home since the beginning of the pandemic declaration, as they understand the seriousness of the situation. Now they hope that "the largest number of people will also understand this as quickly as possible and #stayathome for themselves and the whole community".

At a time when the Government has been promoting the use of online services to avoid contact during this epidemic and on the day when the State Council debates the possible state of emergency, many Portuguese choose to stay at home. In the face of these unusual times, many technological companies have been solidly betting on offers and promotions of various services, in order to help restore a little "normality" for those who decide not to leave home.
