Stage set up at Apple Park is for event in honor of Steve Jobs

This week we released a video that flys over Apple Park. And to the surprise of many, in the middle of the campus there was a big colorful stage set up for some event. In the comments on our article, some readers speculated that it was probably assembled – and was being dismantled – due to some past event, as the worn grass could be an indication that a good number of people passed through there.

Well, quenching the doubts of many, the stage in the middle of Apple Park (which has the colors of the original Apple logo, say) was set up for an event that will take place on the day may 17, in order to celebrate the formal opening of Apple Park – and also as a tribute to Steve Jobs, creator of the “spaceship”.

The information was shared by the Cult of Mac, who managed to obtain a document with information about the project. And it wasn’t just any project, no: Apple’s design team, led by Jony Ive, took months to create the arch (with the help of a partner company). In it, more than 30 unique components are used that facilitate the construction and removal of special events like this, but in all there are 25 thousand pieces, including the structure itself and the metal skeleton below.

According to Ive, the idea was “to create a stage that would immediately become recognizable as the ‘Apple Stage'[[Apple Stage]”.

There is resonance with the rainbow logo that has been part of our identity for many years. The rainbow is also a positive and joyful expression of some of our inclusion values, and I think one of the main reasons why the idea resonated so immediately and deeply with us was the form – the connection from the aesthetic design point of view . A semicircle relates so beautifully and naturally to the shape of the ring.

This structure will hardly be permanently assembled – it is quite capable of being dismantled and used again on other special occasions, like this one.

Speaking of the event itself, it is not known what exactly will happen, but the MacRumors it was informed that there will be a great performance by an artist / band and that the Apple Park Visitor Center will not operate on 5/17 precisely because of the event.
