1. Report suspicious emails

Marking spam emails as suspicious in the inbox is useful for the system to understand that messages from that sender do not please you. To do this in Gmail, select the unwanted message and, in the top bar, press the exclamation icon. It will automatically be forwarded to the spam section of the email.

2. Be careful when providing your email

Several Internet services request the email address, either for registration or to send some type of material. However, the more secretive your email is, the less likely you are to be bothered by spam. Therefore, avoid offering this information on suspicious websites, social networks or other platforms.

3. Use temporary emails

If you need to register or receive material, but do not think it is safe to disclose your real address, temporary emails can be very useful. There are dozens of service options, such as TempMail and Air Mail, that can be used and are disabled after a certain period of time.

4. Never reply to this type of message

Never reply to a spam email. By doing this, you validate your address and become an even easier target, since spammers will know that the user is active and view the inbox.

5. Cancel unwanted subscriptions

Gmail offers the option to unsubscribe from automatic email subscriptions. The resource is very useful for those who signed up for a newsletter, but changed their mind and no longer want to receive messages from that sender.

Step 1. Open an email from the desired sender and press the option "unsubscribe";

6. Increase protection with an antivirus

In addition to the junk e-mail filter already included in Gmail, there are several software that work to prevent receiving spam. Many antiviruses, such as Avast and AVG, offer free services with the option of protecting against this type of scam.
