THE Force Touch it has everything to be one of the great news of the iPhone 6s. His arrival is almost certain, and today 9to5Mac shared how the technology should work on future Apple devices.
On the Apple Watch, the Force Touch (touch the screen harder) shows an additional layer of buttons / features (something important on a screen as small as a watch). On the iPhone, the screen is big enough to fit “everything” we need. Thus, the Force Touch on the smartphone works more like a shortcut, a way to avoid touches and lists of options to get where we want.
Want examples?
- Maps: press more strongly on a point of interest on the maps to activate point-to-point navigation.
- Music: just press a song for the download options to listen offline or add it to a playlist appear.
- telephone: press the app icon on the Home Screen to be taken to a specific location (such as Visual Voicemail).
- News: doing the same thing in the new news app, you can be taken to an area chosen by you (like “Favorites” or “For You”).
- Others: it will be possible, for example, to press a link to see a preview of the page, a contact to view its address on the map, the definition of a word, etc.
As we said above, the iPhone's screen is much bigger than the Watch's. So, instead of the feature covering the entire screen with the options of extra buttons, Force Touch on iOS can be presented in three ways:
- Without any kind of extra interface (shortcuts, for example).
- An interface that appears around the place where you pressed the screen with more force.
- A list of options on the button you pressed hardest.
Known internally as “Orb”, sources said that the iOS Force Touch is very consistent and has pleasant feedback for the user.
In addition to the Force Touch and other rumors that are practically confirmed (A9 processor, 2GB of RAM, faster LTE chip, etc.), it is possible that the rear camera of the iPhone (iSight) gains shooting capabilities in 4K (something they do not were able to say whether it is ready for the possible launch in September).
The Force Touch also has everything to reach the iPads, highlighting the supposed “iPad Pro”, which would have a specific interaction for the stylus and being able to get along with the first major update of iOS 9 (iOS 9.1). Speaking of stylus, The Business Insider talked to a former Apple engineer who confirmed the obvious: the company tested several prototypes at least three were presented internally four years ago, which were described as “different readings for a stylus“.
Apparently some employees worked on this project with the certainty that it would be launched, something that until now has not happened. With the “iPad Pro” coming, the stylus it has everything to be finally released.
Shortly, guys!
