SoundSource 3 utility is the simplest way to become the master of your Mac's sound settings

I think we can all agree on at least one thing on the face of the earth: controlling the sound of your Mac by the native ways of the operating system quite boring. You have to open the System Preferences, hunt for the Sound option icon and, still, come across a series of very simplified configurations that often do not solve your problem.

Fortunately, some third party options help to resolve this difficulty so often in our lives. The newest one, in my view, that has the most potential to be the “standard hand-on-wheel for Mac users”: the utility SoundSource 3, recently announced by developer Rogue Amoeba.

SoundSource 3, by Rogue Amoeba

SoundSource 3 is nothing more than the combination of two sound control applications (now retired from the developer), SoundSource 2 and LineIn. Now, all the features of both software have been brought together in this new incarnation, and they are not few: with it, it is possible to individually adjust the sound input, output and sound effects, controlling the volume and the devices used by each of these aspects.

It is also possible to individually adjust the volume of the left / right channels and configure the audio coming from the input device, such as a microphone, to be played on the output device, as a speaker, transforming the Mac into an instant sound feedback. Best of all, all of these settings are easily accessible from the SoundSource 3 icon in the system menu bar, so all of your Mac's sound control is a maximum of two clicks away.

SoundSource 3 is compatible with macOS 10.10 or higher and costs $ 10 at the Rogue Amoeba store, with a trial version (which deactivates after ten minutes of use) available for free. But beware: if you already have a license for any of the other software from the developer, such as Airfoil, Audio Hijack or Piezo, you are able to receive a code for activating SoundSource 3 for free just access this page. And, even better, if you buy any of these programs now, you will also earn a license of the sound controller for free.

It is worth checking! 😉
