Use PlayStation Messages to instantly see who's online and send messages to your favorite player friends and groups via your mobile device. Always stay connected with your gaming friends to chat about games you enjoy playing, even when you are away from your PS4 system.

With the application, which requires connection to the PlayStation Network (PSN), owners of iPads and iPhones / iPods touch can check their friends list to instantly see who is online and what is playing; send text or voice messages, as well as photos and stickers for your friends or for a group of up to 100 players; and quickly access your favorite message groups from your favorites list.

The original app was also updated today:

What's new in version 3.10.8

  • You can now follow verified accounts. By following these accounts, you can track your activities at (What's New).
  • The messaging feature of the PlayStation App is now available as a separate application. Install the application (PlayStation Messages) to continue using the messaging feature.

That is, whoever wants to use messages now needs the new app even more or less as Facebook did when it launched Messenger.

PlayStation Messages is also available on Google Play, for Android.
