If the transactions had not been blocked by Upstream, users might have to pay for unsolicited services, adding up to tens of millions of dollars in improper charges. According to the digital security company, the scam is associated with Mango, the software development code kit (SDK) built into Snaptube. It installs additional components from a central server and uses redirect and hide chains to perform malicious activities.

In note to TechCrunch, the company responsible for Snaptube has stated that it is considering legal action against Mango. "We didn't realize that Mango was performing fraudulent activities, which brought us a huge loss in brand reputation." A spokesman also said cooperation with the development kit was terminated.
