Six functions of Photoshop 2019 for beginners that you should know | Publishers

Photoshop CC 2019 was officially announced on Monday (15) and brought compatibility with the iPad, in addition to several functions that should make life easier for non-professionals in image editing. The launch took place at the manufacturer's annual event, Adobe Max, in Los Angeles, and the dnetc talked to a specialist in the area to understand what features of the new Photoshop can help non-professional users.

"There are so many people who are not experts using Photoshop that we are trying to make it simpler for these users," explained Stephen Nielson, Senior Product Manager for Photoshop. Check out the functions that should be used most by those who use Photoshop to edit personal images, make a birthday invitation, a project for the company or a school work, that is, "ordinary" people.

The arrival of Photoshop to the iPad considered by the company as "a revolution". This is because it is not a simplified version of the software to run on a mobile device. "real Photoshop, with the same base code", guarantees Nielson. "We are very excited to bring the same program to the iPad, so you can move between devices without losing any data."

When opening the program on the Apple tablet, the user will be able to see the PSD files synchronized in the cloud and continue what he started on the PC, in addition to finding the same tools and options on the computer. In the future, Photoshop is expected to reach other mobile devices as well. On the iPad, it will be available next year.

During the announcement of Photoshop 2018 on Adobe Max, a new function excited the audience and for the product manager, this is a "big improvement". The command "CTRL + Z" (on Windows, and "CMD + Z" on macOS), which serves to undo an action, is no longer limited to being used only once. As with any other software, in the new Photoshop, the user can undo whatever he wants as many times as necessary in previous versions, it was necessary to open the "History" window and find the edition point to which he would like to return.

3. Maintaining the aspect ratio of the images

Another feature that annoys users will have to press the Shift key while dragging the edge of the image to increase or decrease its size. If you do not do this, the figure loses its proportion and is distorted. Photoshop CC 2019 eliminates this difficulty and the "Transform" tool will, by default, maintain the size of the images.

"When the user selects an image to move it," recalls Stephen, "a dot appears in the middle. Many beginners drag the so-called reference point and the image does not move. Now it is hidden and this will certainly help ".

The function called Content-aware fill (Content-aware fill, in Portuguese) allows you to delete objects from the image in an easy and quick way to take unwanted people out of a photo, for example.

This feature already existed, but it was fully automatic. In Photoshop CC 2019, she gets smarter with the use of artificial intelligence. Anyone who wants to use the tool can now apply autofill to an area, but also correct extraneous or out-of-context pixels, giving artificial intelligence "help". As Nielson explained to dnetc"The filling tool is great, but it doesn't do everything right all the time. With this new experience, we can guide the computer and target the algorithm, teaching the machine what to do".

5. Fill spaces with images

A new function called Frame Tool allows you to create masks in a simpler way. The user can create a placeholder and drag an image into it. That image will automatically adjust shape. They can be geometric figures or even words. Simply create a text layer, convert it into a frame, using the right mouse button menu in the "Layers" panel, and add the image. If there is a figure in that space, the new dragged image will replace the previous one, saving time and work.

There are also some functions that seem obvious, but that didn't exist in Photoshop until then, like clicking outside the text to drag it as if it were an image. Before, you had to click on the "Move" tool to do this (that little arrow at the top of the side menu). Editing the text is also simpler. You no longer need to click on the "T" in the menu. Just double click on the word and you're done.

Photoshop also has more simple and free apps available for Android and iPhone (iOS) phones, such as Photoshop Fix and Photoshop Mix. They do not have all the functions of the complete program, but Nielson guarantees that the news of 2019 will soon also make apps smarter.

To guarantee the complete version of the program on the computer, I need to subscribe to the program, which costs R $ 35 per month. Anyone already using the Adobe Creative Cloud software package will automatically receive the update. To access on the iPad, I need to wait for the launch, scheduled for 2019.
