Should you use the blue light filter on your smartphone?

With each new model, manufacturers bring news to consumers. Many of these news are based on trends and research, to bring the functions that will be most successful on a smartphone. Starting with apps in the Play Store, the blue light filter, night screen or other names you read today are coming natively on some devices. But does this filter really work or more propaganda than reality? We will see.

You know that having your face all day in front of the screens is not good at all. Not only do you interact less socially and in person, but you can develop vision, posture, muscle problems and, in extreme cases, even skin cancer. Therefore, many doctors recommend using sunscreen in front of computers, as well as frequent breaks during work, both for stretching the legs and the muscles.

Another problem is the damage to your sleep. Strangely enough, when we are using screens near bedtime, we tend to lose sleep, take longer to sleep, and lie down with a quickened mind. This is no coincidence, as there is a scientific explanation for it. As you know, the light is formed by infinite color spectra, which come together and form the white color.

The sun emits all these colors, computer screens and smartphones as well. But blue light, in particular, has the characteristic of blocking the production of a hormone called melatonin, which is precisely one of the sleepers. During the day, in the sunshine, it's okay to have this hormone blocked, even helping you stay awake.

But it is the nature of human beings to sleep at night, and so the absence of the sun allows melatonin to be made and makes you want to sleep and recharge your energies. But by using linked screens, we are exposed to blue light the same night, so this hormone is no longer manufactured. You lose sleep, or sleep lighter, and harm many things in your body.

It is therefore ideal to stop the blue light two hours before going to bed, but as it is very difficult to separate ourselves from our gadgets, the solution found is such a blue light filter. If you have already used one, you can see that when activated, the screen will turn yellowish, showing that it is just missing the blue present. This does not ruin the screen of your smartphone or computer, it does not emit the blue light.

As much as it will happen, the colors of your content, such as a series, movie or game, will be damaged and strange, but you do not lose in performance, image quality or brightness. And being without the blue light also does not harm your vision or health, the promise to improve, so there are no cons.

How can I enable the blue filter on my smartphone?

There are two ways to use the blue filter on your device. One is to use the native function of the system, which is already present in some models. Motorola, Samsung and Quantum are some that offer this care. The settings are usually in Setup, the Screen section, the shortcut bar itself, or company-specific apps for it.

If your smartphone doesn't have this feature, just download one of the many apps available on the Play Store and set them up for you. Generally, apps offer more tweaks than the functions offered by manufacturers, helping to get more out of your taste. Here are some apps that do this, being the most suitable of all Twilight.
