Short film ordered by Apple and filmed with iPhone is narrated by Samoan athlete

Apple posted today on its YouTube channel a new short film all shot with the iPhone XS.

Entitled “The Solitary Palm, Samoa” (“The Lonely Palm Tree, Samoa”), the film narrated by Eddie Siaumau, Samoan football player.

American Samoa “Football Island” produces athletes who are 56 times more likely to play in the NFL than Americans anywhere else. Photographer and director Steven Counts presents a portrait of Eddie Siaumau, a 17-year-old athlete who has just accepted a full scholarship at a D1 university.

Obviously, the iPhone XS was not the only equipment used in the catch. Counts also used a DJI OSMO Mobile 2, a Joby GripTight PRO Video GorillaPod Stand, a NiSi Smartphones Filter Kit and recorded everything using the FiLMiC Pro app. The production was by Heather Zara.

The penultimate video of the series “Filmed with iPhone” was one that entered the world of Japanese decorated trucks, but we have also seen some Frenchmen and one that shows the first post-wedding dance.

Recently, the short "Bridgit", also filmed with the iPhone, won the Turner Prize.
