Sharp Huawei notch festival: IFA 2018 highlights

Motorola One

The Motorola One was an expected announcement, but it took everyone by surprise when it was announced during the IFA. In addition to the One model, was also released the One Power, both intermediate models. The first has a 2.0 GHz Snapdragon 625 octa-core processor, 5.9-inch HD display, while the next packaged with a 1.8 GHz Snapdragon 636 and 6.2-inch Full HD display. Check out the complete Motorola One hands-on below:

Sony Xperia XZ3

Another release coming soon in Brazil is the Xperia XZ3, which brings a refined look compared to its predecessor, plus the OLED screen – the first on an Xperia – and other optimized details, like a new camera app. We have a hands-on text and video from this device, see:

LG G7 One and Fit

Although the name suggests a smaller or lighter or thinner model, in fact the G7 Fit loses three characteristics of its smaller brother: camera, processor and RAM. When starting with the camera, the new model features only a 16 MP rear sensor, not a dual camera that allows you to take pictures with an open and closed angle. The processor here is the Snapdragon 821, released in 2016, accompanied by 4 GB of RAM.

The second model is part of the Android One program, which brings the pure version present on Google Pixel smartphones straight to participating devices.

Huawei Mate 20 Lite and 20 Pro

Huawei is slowly launching the Mate 20 series with the 20 Lite and 20 Pro models. Both were featured at the IFA and brought a fresh look, dual cameras and up-to-date specs to the market. The Chinese brand's effort with the new models is to make capturing low-light images more interesting, less noisy and sharper.

HTC U12 Life

The HTC U12 Life is HTC's bet to fight the Xiaomi Pocophone F1 on European soil. The device features a look inspired by Google Pixel and other good points such as redesigned software, reduced edge front, and above average audio quality.

Honor Magic 2

Honor Magic 2 was not introduced, but introduced by the company's CEO George Zhao. The Chinese proposal with this device is very interesting, as Honor speak in front 100% filled with screen, biometrics under the display and software engine with artificial intelligence. Magic 2 should reach the Asian and European markets by the end of the year.

Honor Play

Honor Play is another notch-looking smartphone with an iPhone X-inspired look, although the promise here is to appeal to gamers with the device's graphic potential. The Play has 4 GB of RAM and is packaged by the Kirin 970 processor, which promises to deliver above average performance for 4D gaming and traffic using AI. The software features game mode to disable distractions, synchronize achievements and gather points, and the GPU is equipped with Turbo technology to make image processing faster.

ZTE Axon 9 Pro

The Axon 9 Pro is enough to please those users – lucky, by the way – who are looking for a good model to consume multimedia content. The model has a screen that supports the widest HDR 10 in its class, OLED, and displays high fidelity video and gaming in terms of sharpness, contrast and color. ZTE has equipped the model with a processor that delivers separate performance for graphics processing.

BlackBerry Key2 LE

What would you expect from a BlackBerry device in 2018? Anyone who answered a smartphone with a physical keyboard got it right. In addition to the physical keyboard, we have Android Oreo, Snapdragon 636 processor and Full HD screen that occupies much of the front region. Of course, as an authentic BB, we have services and enterprise applications that run encryption and special support from the manufacturer. Again, BlackBerry is targeting the corporate world.

Casio Pro Trek WSD-F30

Smartwatches were a minority in IFA, but one release stood out from the others, which was the Casio model. The Pro Trek WSD-F30 watch runs on Wear OS – formerly Android Wear – and is intended for the general public who practices physical exercise and sports. Thanks to the MIL-STD-810G certification it is possible to immerse it up to 50 meters in the water, being the same quite resistant to other activities. The look sounds like vintage, Casio-style, sporting appeal.

Kirin 980

The Kirin 980 is the world's first 7-nanometer process processor, Cortex A76, with Mali-G76 GPU and module that meets new 4G categories / frequencies. In addition to the new graphics card and innovative construction, the processor is also pioneering the new LPDDR4X memory standard and 5G modem. Of course the 980 brings other innovative features, but these are the main ones and should make noise in the market.

IFA 2018: What comes next?

Other manufacturers have introduced accessories, laptops and smart home products. Lenovo launched a smart speaker, while Asus renewed its line of laptops and re-introduced the ROG Phone. Sharp, the first manufacturer to launch a model with reduced front edges, introduced a new model from the iconic Aquos series, the C10.
