The official SEGA emulator is now officially available for Linux via Steam and has approximately 50 games.
At the close of May May's curtains we were surprised by the SEGA by advertising your emulator Mega Drive & Genesis Classics with full support for Linux and macOS, including new features like two-player online support.
On Tuesday (29) the SEGA dropped a note on his official blog on Steam announcing the news that was coming to their old game emulator and the arrival to the platforms Linux and macOS. Before the emulator was only available for Windows. The complete list of updates was as follows:
Online multiplayer for two players;
Leaderboard;
Challenge Mode;
Support of ROMs from different regions; Advance or Rewind the game; Limit of Sprite disabled; Mirror mode – flip the screen and have a new game challenge; VR support (this was a surprise); Support for Mac and Linux natively.
There are about 53 games included in this SEGA gaming package, with various game genres and styles that marked the 1990s.
Among these titles we have some classics like:
Alex Kidd in the Enchanted Castle; Shinobi III; Virtua Fighter; Comix Zone;
among others.
BUT WILL SONIC HAVE ???
Yes my dear grasshopper, the fastest hedgehog on the planet will be included in this game pack with the titles: Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic 2, Sonic 2D Blast and the Puyo Puyo that served as inspiration for the Doctor Robotinik's Mean Bean Machine (all included). Sonic 3 and Sonic & Knuckles They are still in the process of porting, but so far this article is without native Linux support.
And the price ???
You can buy the SEGA Mega Drive & Genesis Classics package for 24.99 / $ 30 (current price for $ 75) by visiting the official Steam link here. The Steam store does not yet have other operating systems, but this should be fixed soon.
There is still "room" for more games to come, such as Mortal Kombat II, Castlevania and a whole host of other successful games on the SEGA console, but it depends on the trade deals it makes.
