Speculation about the next generation of the iPhone does not stop and, recently, Svetapple.sk got some information that further increases the buzz about the possibility of the “IPhone 12” not have the front cutout (notch) on the screen.
In addition, they published a new concept that imagines how the LiDAR scanner, present in the new iPad Pro, in the future iPhones – and until the result was not bad, as we will see later.
“IPhone 12” without notch?
Since the front cutout appeared on the iPhone X screen in 2017, many people have wondered how (and when) Apple could remove it. With the “iPhone 12” this is no different, and we have already commented on several possibilities [1, 2, 3, 4] of the infamous notch be left out in the next generation of Apple smartphones.
Now the Svetapple.sk said he was able to access the code iOS 14 (from an unidentified source, but close to Apple) and analyzed the supposed diagram of the “iPhone 12 Pro”, which shows a version of the device without the front cutout.
It is possible to see that the device would have slightly thicker and not so rounded edges, but there is no cutout on the screen – similar to iPad Pro. In that sense, the slightly larger space on the edges would be enough to hold all the Face ID sensors. and the TrueDepth camera.
We will see if, until the official presentation of the next iPhones (in the second semester), some other rumor corroborates this possibility – or bury it for good.
IPhone concept with LiDAR scanner
Earlier this week, we reported that analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicted that at least two models of iPhones launched in 2020 (out of the four expected) will adopt the new LiDAR scanner built into the camera system of the new iPad Pro.
Even before that, however, the Svetapple.sk I had already imagined what the new element would look like on the “iPhone 12”, contributing to the creation of a new concept.
In addition to the implantation of the scanner, they are counting on the possibility of Apple launching a new color on the next iPhone: navy blue (“Navy blue”). It is not known, however, whether this color would be introduced to replace midnight green (from the iPhones 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max) or if it would be a new option.
As for the cameras themselves, they imagine that the main lens (wide-angle) of the “iPhone 12 Pro” will have 64MP and aperture ƒ / 1.6; another change would be the telephoto lens, which can shoot at 24MP and offer 5x optical zoom, or 50x digital zoom! Finally, the ultra-angle should remain the same: 12MP, ƒ / 2.4 aperture and 120 ° field of view.
As we said in other publications, this technology can bring about very nice improvements for iPhone cameras – the device can improve the noise of an image after the photo has been taken and, thanks to the LiDAR scanner, possibly record videos with effect bokeh.
What did you think of the possibilities and the concept?
