Amazon Prime Reading is a digital book service that is included with your Amazon Prime subscription. It serves as a kind of tasting of Kindle Unlimited, a modality with a greater offer of titles and which brings more recent and famous works. On the other hand, the price is low, since there is no additional cost for those who already pay the monthly fee of R $ 9.90 to have access to the benefits package launched by Amazon in Brazil in September. See below how it works and for whom the offer is intended and find out if it’s worth it.

What is Prime Reading and how does it work?
Prime Reading is offered automatically to those who have Amazon Prime. By subscribing to the service that brings deliveries, Prime Video, Prime Music and Twitch Prime, consumers also gain access to a collection of ebooks to read on various devices, at no additional cost. Once the subscription is activated, books with the “Prime” seal are available for download without having to pay anything.
The number of titles, however, is not the same offered by Kindle Unlimited, which has a more robust offer. In addition, there is a download limitation: it is only allowed to download 10 books at a time. When trying to read the eleventh, you will need to release one of the titles previously obtained to unlock the new download.
Prime Reading is integrated with the subscription of R $ 9.90 per month or R $ 89 per year for Amazon Prime. There are still 30 days free for new accounts and you can cancel at any time. It is, therefore, a single service for videos, music, books, free shipping and discounts in the online store. The other reading option sold separately is the Kindle Unlimited, which is priced at R $ 19.90 per month and does not include the Prime benefits.
The package offered by Prime Reading is not aimed at the most avid reader of digital books. According to Amazon, the service includes «hundreds of ebooks and magazines», including fiction and non-fiction titles, and travel guides. In addition, the collection is revolving, which means that a work available today can be removed from the catalog tomorrow without notice, unless it has already been downloaded at the rate of 10 downloads at a time available to each user.

How to read Prime Reading books
If you are already a Prime subscriber, Amazon offers the titles included in the subscription on the Reading page (https://www.amazon.com.br/primereading) or directly on the online store. When looking for a book, check for the “Prime R $ 0.00” stamp to download or send to a reading device without paying anything extra for it.
Prime Reading does not have its own app. You can download ebooks included with your subscription to read offline on the Kindle app for Android and iPhone (iOS) or on the Kindle digital reader. It is also possible to start a reading on the computer: when exploring the list of titles, click on «Read now» to open directly in the browser.

What is the difference for Kindle Unlimited?
Kindle Unlimited differs mainly by bringing a vast selection of ebooks, which exceed one million titles. The collection also has a lower turnover, which allows you to add a book to the reading list and know that there are good chances that it will remain available for free when downloading to read. On the other hand, it is necessary to invest twice the Prime subscription just to have more works available.
Prime Reading is more limited and is mainly aimed at the user who is still trying to get used to reading digital books. By paying a low monthly fee, it is possible to have access to several advantages of Amazon and even download some books to try reading on your phone, browser or on the company’s e-reader.
