My account is publishing unauthorized content
If you noticed that your account is posting comments and / or sharing things you haven't posted, it's probably your password has been compromised.
In this case, do the following:
Tip: Do not grant third party access to websites or applications that do not follow the Instagram Community Guidelines or Terms of Use. Those sites that sell or promise followers and likes are likely to try to use your account inappropriately.

This case is the most serious, because it all depends on how quickly you noticed and what information the hacker managed to change. Here's what you can do to try to resolve:
Check for an Instagram message in your email account
This is the first step. If you receive an email from Instagram stating that your email address has been changed, you can undo this by clicking on the option βreverse this changeβIn the message.
If other information has been changed – your password, for example – and it is not possible to reverse the email address change, please report your hacked account (we explain how to do this below).
If you have not received the e-mail from Instagram, remember to check the spam box.
Request a login link in your email or phone number
Asking for a login link to your email or phone number helps the Instagram confirming that your account is. To request, do as follows:
- On the login screen, choose the option βGet help signing inβ(Android) or βForgot password?β(iOS);
- Choose the email address or phone number where you want to receive the login link and tap βForwardβ;

- After receiving the login link, follow the instructions that appear on the screen.
How to report Instagram account
If it is not possible to revert the change of email address or recover with the security code, it is recommended to report an Instagram account. Here's how to do it:
Android
- On the login screen, touch βGet help signing inβ
- Enter your username, email or phone number and touch βForwardβ(See what to do if you don't remember your username)
- Touch βNeed more help?βAnd follow the instructions that appear on the screen.
iOS
- On the login screen, touch βForgot password?β
- Touch βNeed more help?βAnd follow the instructions that appear on the screen.

Select the option βI think my Instagram account has been hackedβ. At this stage, both in Android how much in iOSIt is important to enter a secure email address to which only you have access. After submitting your request, wait for an email from Instagram informing the next steps (check the spam box).
Also remember that Facebook currently owns Instagram, so the email address with the instructions will be β@ support.facebook.comβ.
Verify your identity
After submitting this request, you will receive an automated response email from the security team at Instagram asking to verify your identity.
To do this, you must submit one of the items below (or both), as requested by the social network:
- A picture of you holding a paper with the code (written by hand) that was sent to you;
- Registered email address or phone number and the type of device used at the time of registration (iPhone, iPad, Android etc).
Then, the team will send specific instructions, in the email you provided, for the recovery of your account.
Security tips for your Instagram account

- Choose a strong password. Use a combination of at least six numbers, letters and punctuation. It must also be different from the passwords you use on other websites and social networks;
- Change your password frequently, especially if you receive a message from Instagram asking to change it.
