Seagate today announced an update to its line of external hard drives made for Macs. FreeAgent Go Pro for Mac is one of the few portable 2.5-inch disks to include both the FireWire 800 interface, the FireWire 400 and USB 2.0.
The hard drives are 7,200RPM, which guarantees performance similar to that of large 3.5 inch models. FreeAgent Go Pro is available in 250GB, 320GB and 500GB versions, and costs $ 130, $ 150 and $ 190, respectively.
The version of FreeAgent Go with only the USB 2.0 interface also gained the same capabilities as its more complete brother, and will be sold for $ 100, $ 120 and $ 150. As an accompaniment to these versions, the user can choose to buy the Go Dock + (US $ 40), a hub that adds three USB ports to connect any other device.
And finally, there was also the update of the desktop version of the external drives, the FreeAgent Desk for Mac, which now has capacities ranging between 500GB and 2TB. All have three types of interfaces (FireWire 400, FireWire 800 and USB 2.0) and a maximum price of US $ 340 for the largest capacity model.
