Seagate today announced the launch of the 3TB FreeAgent GoFlex, the first external hard drive in the world to achieve this capacity. It works either via USB 2.0 or via USB 3.0 or FireWire 800, using special adapters.
The hard drive comes with a special NTFS driver for Macs, allowing it to be read and written when formatted for Windows. Its 3TB (at 3.5 inches), according to Seagate, is capable of storing up to 120 HD movies, 1,500 games, thousands of photos and countless hours of music.
The suggested retail price of the new product is $ 250 in the United States, and it requires Mac OS X 10.6 or higher (or Windows Vista / 7). On the table, it can be positioned both vertically and horizontally.
