Samsung has announced that it will bring a tablet with its brand and operating system based on Android version 2.2 to the stores, still during the third quarter of this year.
The news is advanced today by Reuters, based on statements by the company, and confirms the rumors that since June have been broadcast by various means regarding the development of the device by Samsung.
According to the agency, the South Korean manufacturer confirmed that it is a device with a 7-inch touchscreen, but did not elaborate on its competitor to the iPad.
Even without confirmation by the company, the images of the device that appeared on the Web, show that it will have a feature that can be said to be less common among its peers: the ability to make telephone calls. The deduction appears due to the inclusion of an icon, called Phone, on the device’s home screen.
The photograph of tablet from Samsung – which apparently resembles a Galaxy smartphone, but in increased size – has been circulating on several specialized sites, such as the Android-Tablet, which adds to the list of features a Super AMOLED screen and the name of Galaxy Tab, for the device .
In a message published in early June, the website states that the image was provided by the Samsung team in South Africa, through its Twitter profile, where it was also said that it would have a 7-inch high-definition TFT screen and integration of a 3.5mm jack input. Those responsible will not have confirmed whether or not the device would make calls.
In the middle of the month, several blogs guaranteed that the device would be launched in September and would have an A8 processor at 1.2GHz, 16 GB of memory (expandable up to 48 GB through a card), MicroSD card slot (up to 32GB) and 7-inch Super AMOLED screen. A 4000 mAh battery and a weight of 370 grams were other advanced features – which remain to be confirmed.
