Samsung shows new products and innovation at CES

The size of Samsung’s product portfolio makes the conference held yesterday at CES easily become a long list of outstanding products, but it also generates more innovation, which guaranteed the attribution of 37 CES 2011 Innovation awards, among the which count two Best of Innovation for televisions, digital cameras and 3D monitors.

Under the motto of “Smarter Life”, where design combines with technology and the easy connection between products, the company showed continuity in the strategies already defined, without surprising revelations.

Its line of LED TVs is even thinner and with a reduced frame, making better use of the screen’s useful space. In addition to the Samsung D8000 and D7000 LED TV series, Samsung also introduced new Plasma TVs, which follow the same philosophy of reducing the frame and the thickness of the screens, and which are also 3D.

Accompanying the TVs, the Korean brand continues to incorporate features on the Smart TV platform, with the Smart Hub menu and access to more applications in the Samsung Apps store, which the company guarantees to be the first HDTV app store.

In the mobility area the big star is the 9 series of notebooks, which uses Duralumin for the chassis, which makes the equipment more resistant and lighter. This material is used in airplanes and allows you to reduce the weight of the notebook to 1.31kg and the thickness to 16.3mm, despite the 13 inch screen.

With Fast Start technology and an SSD (Solid State Drive) disk, the new 9 series allows the system to start up in just 12 seconds, 60 times faster than using a hard disk, says Samsung.

Still with no date of arrival in Europe, the Sliding PC 7 Series is another of the highlights. This notebook has a keyboard that slides under the multitouch screen, quickly becoming a Tablet or notebook.

The laptop has a 10.1-inch screen with HD resolution and good visibility in outdoor light situations, which makes it a good compromise solution for those who are undecided between a tablet and a notebook. Inside is an Atom processor and the Windows 7 operating system, also betting on SSD storage for faster startup.

In the area of Tablets, which this year dominate the electronics and IT fair, Samsung presented only a renewed version of the Galaxy Tab, only with Wi-Fi and also with version 2.2 of the Android operating system. The brand maintains the 7-inch dimension of the TFT screen and in this model reduces internal storage to 16 GB.

Prices and availability for Europe of these products are not yet known.
