Samsung introduces Ballie, smart mini robot reminiscent of BB-8

Samsung introduced Ballie, a smart mini-robot that resembles BB-8 from the Star Wars universe. According to the company, this robot with artificial intelligence will be responsible for taking care of your home and ensuring that everything is in order while you are away. It fits in the palm and can have different colors including green, orange, blue and purple.

The smart robot was unveiled at Samsung's CES 2020 stage show and demonstrated various features for the gadget. In addition to keeping an eye out when the owner is away, in his presence Ballie, who is able to be a physical exercise assistant, will be programmed to open curtains at dawn and interact with pets. Another detail mentioned by Samsung is that Ballie can help older people get better access to technology, have simplified communication and also help in varied situations.

On stage it was only possible to check the movement features of the mini robot, as it is able to use its sensors to get closer or further from its owner. H.S. Kim, CEO of Samsung's consumer electronics division, was closely followed by the machine on stage by the device, which also seems to use its camera to see its surroundings.

In Samsung's video on stage, Ballie turns on the television for the house dog to watch, triggers a cleaning robot, and closes the curtains at dusk, simple functions that can make a difference to the homeowner when he comes home. The question of how to integrate with these devices is made if they are not technologies developed by Samsung. Recently Apple, Google and Amazon have teamed up to create a language that makes it easier to use IoT devices, something that should enhance the connected home industry.
