Today we decided to compare two premium devices that were launched in 2013. With the talk of the most exciting phone in history, LG introduced the G2 in April 2013 with good specs and new features like the arrival of the smart button. Samsung had the mission of developing a device that would surpass the success of the Galaxy S3, and in February of that same year the Galaxy S4 was introduced by the company. Galaxy S4 vs. LG G2: Design
The design of the LG G2 was a surprise to all users, especially the presence of the smart buttonIt's an innovation at the time. The smart button concentrated the camera's volume, power, and trigger functions on the back of the device. The LG G2 consists of plastic glossy and comes with a subtle texture on the back. The front part is completely made of glass, without the presence of physical or capacitive buttons.

The Galaxy S4 has retained the same visual appearance as previous models, however, a bit narrower, clearly square and with a more elegant approach. The back cover can be removed by the user, allowing access to internal components such as card entry and battery. The front part houses the physical button characteristic of the S line, as well as two capacitors positioned at the bottom right and left respectively.

The design of the LG G2 is more sober, ergonomic and intelligent. With the G2 LG was not afraid to risk and introduce the smart button, which continued to be present in later generations of its mid and high range devices.

The screen of the Galaxy S4 is a 5 inch Super AMOLED with FullHD resolution (1920 x 1080 pixels) and 441 ppi. The panel has high contrast, bright colors and good black levels. The viewing angle of the screen is excellent, and can be fully viewed when placed horizontally.

The G2 has a 5.2 inch screen and features True HD-IPS technology, also with Full HD resolution (1080 x 1920 pixels) and 424 ppi. The LCD panel is bright and offers plenty of contrast, without exaggeration in terms of saturation and color representation. Regarding use in direct sunlight, the G2 responded well and still offered good viewing angle stability.

Colors are more accurate in the LG G2, which stands behind only in the intensity of contrast and black levels. Both devices have resolutions that are used in many high-end devices today, such as Asus Zenfone 2 and Sony Xperia Z3.
Galaxy S4 vs. LG G2: Software
The national LG G2 has been running Android 4.4.4 KitKat for about 11 months, and should receive Android Lollipop 5.0 as soon as the country's carriers settle their update schedules. The device software runs with some LG enhancements, such as QSlide, which turns system utilities into pop up floating, and Slide Aside multitasking, which is not as efficient as the standard Android multitasking.

The Galaxy S4 update for Android 5.0.1 started shipping less than a month ago. The model can be considered a warrior as there is a rumor of the upgrade to Lollipop 5.1 in the coming months. The Galaxy S4 has shipped numerous software functions through the TouchWiz interface. Gesture and motion features include multi-window, which supports up to two applications open simultaneously.

Galaxy S4 vs. LG G2: Technical Specifications
The Galaxy S4 comes in two processor variants on the market: one with Exynos octa-core 3G and other quad core with Snapdragon 600 and 4G. During our tests we used the GTI9505 version with Snapdragon 600 quad core 1.9GHz and 2GB of RAM. The verse octa-core has an unusual overheating, and was less successful than the quad core. The Adreno 320 GPU that equips the model offers excellent graphics, capable of playing the heaviest Play Store games today. However, the performance of the device is compromised by the TouchWiz interface, which features a high RAM consumption, mainly for its numerous native functions.
The G2 equipped with the Snapdragon 800 processor quad core 2.26GHz, and 2 GB of RAM. The Adreno 330 GPU is capable of successfully handling the most robust Play Store games. The national version comes equipped with 4G and a single variant, unlike the Galaxy S4. LG's software functions do not interfere with RAM processing in the same proportion as TouchWiz, and LG UI's fluidity is also considerably higher.

The Galaxy S4 may not be a good choice these days. The Samsung device has satisfactory performance and good user experience, however, handling the TouchWiz present in the model is not a pleasant task. The Galaxy S4 was marked by its exaggerated functionality, and gave rise to the first claims for system performance improvements and applications pre-installed by the South Korean company, culminating in the Galaxy S5's poor sales performance the following year.
The LG G2 features a sturdier hardware that can handle everyday tasks and situations for longer. LG's software is cleaner and more fluid, contributing to the ultimate user experience with the device. Compared to the LG G3, the value of the G2 results in savings of approximately $ 500, and provides the user with the same usability and processing experience as the model launched in 2014.
