Rumors are rumors, the fact is: the iPhone X was the best-selling smartphone in the first quarter of 2018!

It is not the first time that Apple proves the failure of some rumors. There in 2013 (just to cite an example), at the time of the iPhone 5, Tim Cook commented that the smartphone supply chain is extremely complex and that there are no conclusions about sales based on this. But it seems that the people did not learn and repeated the same mistakes in "predicting" the decline of the iPhone X.

The proof of this is in the most recent Strategy Analytics, who put the iPhone X officially as the best-selling smartphone in the world during the first quarter of 2018 and the best-selling Apple device for the second consecutive quarter!

World's best-selling smartphones at Q1 2018 - Strategy Analytics

SA data show that, during the first quarter of the year, 345 million smartphones were sold around the world, of which an incredible 16 million were iPhones X with a 4.6% market share. With these new projections (after all, Apple does not disclose the individual sales numbers for its devices), the company would have sold about 50 million of iPhone X units since its launch last November.

For Juha Winter, director of analysis at SA, some factors indicate the success of the Apple device, among them “the good design, the advanced camera, the great spread in the market”, etc.

To complete, the company also occupied the second, third and fourth places in the ranking of best sellers respectively with the iPhone 8 (which sold about 12.5 million units during the period), the 8 Plus (8.3 million units) and the iPhone 7 (respectable 5.6 million units)!

The fifth position was occupied by the Redmi 5A device (from Xiaomi), with 5.4 million units sold, followed by the Galaxy S9 (from Samsung), which even being launched towards the end of the quarter, managed to reach the mark of 5.3 million of devices sold. According to Woody Oh, director of SA, predicted that the flagship of Asian giant is the world's best-selling smartphone in the second quarter of this year.

The news comes a day after two good achievements by Apple related to the growth of the sale of iPhones and the great expressiveness of the brand in the Chinese market in the last quarter.
