Rumors: Apple is preparing to launch 27 ″ LED Cinema Display and dodeca-core Mac Pro

An update on the line of Macs Pro has been long awaited, but the most recent rumors said that Apple could launch it last Tuesday, March 16. Evidently, this was not the case; sources of AppleInsider said today that the novelty will arrive in June, accompanied by a new 27-inch LED Cinema Display.

The monitor is perhaps the big news today, since the only existing LED Cinema Display is the 24 ″, presented in October 2008. With the popularity of the latest 27 ″ iMacs, Apple is now believed to have enough volume to offer a larger version of your display that is accessible to consumers.

Internally identified by the code name K59, the LCD monitor would have a resolution of 2560 × 1440 pixels, against 1920 × 1200 pixels of its smaller brother.

The Mac Pro upgrade has already been commented on here and is quite obvious: Apple should incorporate two Intel “Westmere” processors with 6 cores each, totaling 12 for a new machine dodeca-coreat the top of the line. I can't imagine the performance that this new tower will achieve
