Rumor: new 4-inch model will actually be called “iPhone SE” instead of “iPhone 5se”

About a month ago we said that Apple would be planning to launch a new iPhone with a 4 inch screen to replace the iPhone 5s. This supposed device would be called “iPhone 5se”, a nomenclature that would have two explanations: the first would be special edition (special edition); the second would be a 5s enhanced (enhanced).

Because, according to the 9to5Mac, Apple decided to follow the path of special edition and even decided to remove the 5 from the name, leaving only “IPhone SE” (with capital letters, apparently). Taking the 5 out of the iPhone's name makes sense because users could be confused, after all Apple would be launching a new model 5 that would have internal components even better than those of the iPhone 6, still marketed by the company.

As we reported this week, the device has everything to be practically the same (visually speaking) as the iPhone 5s. Inside, however, the story will be different: it has everything to come with the A9 / M9 processor / coprocessor, 8MP and 1.2MP rear and front cameras, NFC chip (for Apple Pay), support for Live Photos and the “E a Siri” feature, Bluetooth 4.2, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, 16GB and 64GB storage, in addition to the same color options as the iPhone 6s (space gray, silver, gold and rose gold).

According to rumors, Apple will hold an event on March 15 to present both the “iPhone 5se” “iPhone SE” and the 9.7-inch iPad Air 3 iPad Pro. The products are due to arrive at the stores on 3/18.
