Rumor: MacBooks Pro may receive a small update by the end of the year

According to a reliable source AppleInsider, Ma may be preparing a small update for its line of professional notebooks to prepare them for the holidays and save time until the arrival of Ivy Bridge processors in 2012. The change will be minimal, basically a speed bump with new processors recently released by Intel.

New family of MacBooks Pro

New speeds of 2.4GHz, 2.5GHz and 2.7GHz would replace the current 2GHz, 2.2GHz and 2.3GHz Core i7 chips used in 15 and 17 inch MacBooks Pro. In the 13-inch model, the current 2.3GHz Core i5 could be exchanged for one of up to 2.6GHz.

The last update of these machines took place in February, when they gained Thunderbolt port, FaceTime HD camera and considerable performance gains.
