Rumor: Apple may also renew AirPort Express soon

AirPort ExpressTwo days after the start of the commercialization of the new Time Capsules and AirPorts Extreme in Brazil, AppleInsider now notes that Apple would also be preparing an update for AirPorts Express.

The reason why the device has not been updated with its “brothers” is uncertain, but it is very likely that it will follow in the footsteps of others and also receive improved hardware. Tests with Ma's new Wi-Fi bases prove significant gains in performance and wireless signal range.

O AppleInsider claims that Apple will soon release AirPort Utility 5.6 to users, and that among its new features is “Adds support for the AirPort Express 802.11n (2nd Generation) base station” another indication that AirPort Express should be renewed soon.

For now, the product is still available for purchase at the Apple Online Store, including the Brazilian one, where it costs R $ 370. Its current version, with support for the 802.11n standard, was launched in March 2008.
