The day has come. From today you can buy the Galaxy S5. Advanced users will also like to know that the developer Chainfire j published the file CF-Auto-Root at the XDA Developers, through which we can root this device without problems. On AndroidPIT, we already rooted the international version of the Samsung Galaxy S5 (SM-G900F), and in the following tutorial we explain the whole process.
Notice
IMPORTANT: This process increases the flash counter and affects KNOX. Therefore, the appliance warranty lost.
Rooting can be risky. By following the steps correctly, there will be no problems. Neither I nor AndroidPIT is responsible for errors that damage the device. This tutorial is only valid for the Samsung Galaxy S5 in its SM-G900F version.
Typically, this root method does not usually affect user data or applications, but if you are unsure, it is highly recommended to back up your files.
What do we need to root S5?
- A computer running Windows from XP;
- One USB cable;
- A Samsung Galaxy S5 in its international version (SM-G900F) with battery charged at least 51%;
- The CF-Root file, which you find in the corresponding topic of XDA Developers For download. This file includes the Odin program.
Step 1 – Prepare All Files
The file CF-Auto-Root-klte-kltexx-smg900f.zip must be extracted with a program of type WinRAR. I recommend creating a folder named SGS5 on your desktop and unzipping them there. The SGS5 folder should look like this:
Step 2 – Prepare ODIN
With the files in place, make sure our computer detects the Samsung Galaxy s5. For this we must connect it and wait for recognition. If it does not work, make sure the USB cable used is the original. If you still do not recognize, try the Samsung KIES program, but be sure to close the program before starting the process.
Open Odin by double-clicking the .exe file and once open, click Reset. In the PDA window add the first CF-Auto-Root file, the one ending with the format .tar.md5.
3 step – enable download mode
To turn on the device in download mode, at the same time click the decrease volume + Home + Energy. A screen with the image above appears. To accept we have to click the volume up button. Then connect the Galaxy S5 to your computer via USB. The Odin program will recognize you. Odin's screen should look like this:
If everything looks like the picture, it's time to click the Start button. After the process is completed, the Samsung Galaxy S5 be restarted and the following screen appears:
Do not disconnect the device until the word in green PASS appears in Odin!
Congratulations! You have just rooted your Galaxy S5! Now you can use apps with root rights, uninstall factory apps and many other things.
