Rome bets on open source to have independent technology

The Italian capital has decided that from now on only Open Source software will be adopted by the city's public bodies. This measure places Rome as a reference to other states regarding the use of this type of software and should influence future decisions.

The Italian capital has decided that from now on only Open Source software will be adopted by the city's public bodies. This measure places Rome as a reference to other states regarding the use of this type of software and should influence future decisions.

This measure is being adopted for new machines that will be used by the government, as well as the possible exchange of proprietary software on machines that are still in use.

From these exchanges, the government will begin to calculate the economic benefits of this change, and the results will likely encourage the adoption of this change by other states and large companies. The goal, however, while also targeting the economy, is to stop technology itself, and not rely on third parties to maintain the resources Rome needs.
