Reuters joins Facebook's fact-checking force

The reviewed posts will be selected by Facebook itself, although Reuters is free to choose some. The news agency advances that the team may grow, especially in times when the volume of information shared online tends to increase, as in the case of the US presidentials.

Keren Goldshlager, head of Facebook's News Integrity Partnerships department, said that "expanding the fact-checking program is an important part of the fight against disinformation".

It is important to underline that the team will not check any political announcements.

This is not the first partnership between both companies. In December, Reuters and Facebook created a course for journalists that teaches them how to identify deepfakes, just like other digitally manipulated images and videos.
