Redmi smart bracelet to be launched on April 3

After more than two months after reports that Redmi was planning to launch a smart bracelet have surfaced on the Web, it seems that now we finally have an April 3 launch date.

Analysis

Smart bracelet is an excellent entry wearable

The official Redmi account on the Chinese social network Weibo released an image indicating the imminent launch of its first smart bracelet, which could be called Redmi Band. The image does not show the smart bracelet itself, but just a teaser.

The image says that the smart bracelet will be officially announced tomorrow from 2 pm (in China time) during the Mi Fan Festival, an event held annually by Xiaomi.

Since it started operating independently from Xiaomi in early 2019, Redmi has expanded its product line beyond the smartphone market. Today it offers products such as notebooks, smart TVs, routers, smart speakers, washing machines and others.

No further details on the alleged Redmi Band have been released. We will have to wait until tomorrow to get more information about the company's first smart bracelet. In addition to Redmi, Xiaomi apparently presents its Xiaomi Mi Band 5 at the same event.

It is worth remembering that in January this year the name Redmi Band appeared in the code from the Xiaomi Wear app, which also listed features like notifications, watches and heart rate monitors:

In the case of Mi Band 5, previous leaks claim that it has an AMOLED color screen of 1.2 larger than that of Mi Band 4, support for NFC (Near-field communication) technology and support for Google Pay and Mi Pay payment platforms.
