RED (PRODUCT) version of the Apple Watch Series 5 could launch in 2020

As you probably know, Apple has a long (and extremely fruitful) partnership with (RED), the NGO founded by Bono and Bobby Shriver with the intention of raising funds to fight AIDS in Africa. Dozens of Apple products have already been launched with the institution’s signature, but the Apple Watch it was never one of them – we already had watch bands participating in the campaign, but not the device itself. That may be about to change.

According to WatchGeneration, Apple may launch in 2020 a version (PRODUCT) RED from Apple Watch Series 5. The website saw an indication of the model’s existence in an Apple database; shortly thereafter, the clue was quickly removed by Apple – which may indicate that, in fact, the company is working on something like this.

According to the website, the device in question would have a reddish aluminum housing, similar to what we have today with the seventh generation iPod touch. THE mockup above gives an idea of what may be coming, although the aluminum in the illustration may be a little less red than we will see in the (supposed) final version of the Apple Watch.

There is no information on when Apple will introduce this new watch model, but sometime between March and May 2020 it seems to be a safe bet: it was in this period, after all, that Apple launched the (PRODUCT) RED versions of iPhone 7 (in 2017) and iPhone 8 (in 2018). A launch in this period would also be good to give a new boost to sales of the Apple Watch Series 5, more or less in the middle of its life cycle.
