Quaternium HYBRiX 2.1 drone breaks record flying for an incredible 8 hours and 10 minutes

THE Quaternium used your drone HYBRiX 2.1 to break the flight record for unmanned autonomous aircraft by keeping it in the air for eight hours and ten consecutive minutes. The previous brand was from the company itself, which had promoted a flight of four hours and 40 minutes in a row.

As the site points out Drone Reviews and News, autonomy has been one of the biggest problems for drones, which rarely manage to stay in the air for several hours. After all, it is a challenge to balance the size of the battery with the weight of the aircraft and its other characteristics.

Six years ago, Quaternium became the first company on the market to develop a hybrid drone: which uses traditional fuels and electric energy together. This resulted in the HYBRiX multirotor drone being able to remain in the air for three hours and ten minutes which at the time demolished all previous records.

With this, a new category of drones has emerged that seeks to meet the demands of commercial applications. The use of hybrid multirotors is responsible for extending the flight time by more than ten times, compared to purely electrical solutions.

The most recent record for the Quaternium HYBRiX 2.1 saw the unmanned aircraft taking off at 8:52 am in the Valencia time zone, Spain. He only landed at 5:02 pm, running a 490-minute stationary flight.

The company also released a chart comparing the HYBRiX 2.1 with the HYBRiX 2.0 and other popular multirotor drones. While version 2.1 of the Quaternium hybrid drone can hold 490 minutes in the air, the 2.0 model stayed 280 minutes. The chart then has a sharp drop to the next on the list, the DJI Phantom 4, which can last 30 consecutive minutes in the air.

J DJI Inspire 2 has a range of 27 minutes, while Yuneec Typhon 4K and Parrot Bebop 2 tie with 25 minutes. At the bottom of the list is the DJI Agras T16, with a maximum flight time of just 18 minutes.

The HYBRiX project is supported by the European Union through the Horizon 2020 innovation program, which seeks to encourage scientific projects with the potential to become leaders in the industry.
