[promoday] Application maps the subway lines of the city of São Paulo

Blog do iPhone

I wonder how any Brazilian had not yet done such a program, since the main cities on the planet already have subway maps adapted for the iPhone.

Because the application São Paulo Subway comes to supply this demand. It brings to iPhone the complete railroad map of São Paulo, with the possibility of identifying the stations closest to where you are.

The application has three basic functions:

The first is to show the map of the entire railway network in the city. The image is the official one, used by EMTU, and it can zoom (with the traditional pinching movement with your fingers). It is simple and not interactive, but it has the great advantage of allowing access to the metro map without having to connect on the internet.

Strangely it has a menu for a supposed map of the Rio de Janeiro metro, but the image is half done and cannot be used.

The second function, which in our view is the most interesting, is the location of nearest stations. It works very well and in our tests it obtained good accuracy. You see the name of the stations and the distances each is from you. Very good.

And the third feature is the ability to show the map of a station’s surroundings. Very practical if you need to check the address where you should go. The only thing, however, is that it still doesn’t use the new feature of OS 3.0 to incorporate Google maps into the application. He resorts to Maps, being forced to close the first app and only then open the second. Please note that accessing Google consumes data traffic, unlike other features of the application.

The application is quite simple, but it fulfills its role, which is to enable the paulistano to always have a subway map of their city at hand. The application, oddly enough, was not made by a Brazilian: it was a friendly Mexican who developed the project and contacted us to inform us. Even so, it goes to our category of Brazilian apps, as it is directed directly to our audience, all in Portuguese. ?

The application costs $ 0.99 (less than 2 reais) and can be downloaded from the App Store (link). Compatible with iPhone and iPod touch with system from 2.2.1.
