Priberam unveiled INSIGHT, an artificial intelligence platform that will support technological monitoring and horizon scanning processes in helping to combat COVID-19. The platform is used to index, filter and relate the available information on disease developments, in order to support researchers, scientists, doctors and public decision makers on the pandemic.
In a statement, the CEO of Priberam, Carlos Amaral, says that the INSIGHT platform is being used to monitor all information that has to do with COVID-19 published in Europe PMC, one of the largest repositories of medical research in the world. There are already more than 60,000 articles published in 2020.
It is explained that the INSIGHT platform allows exploring and relating tens of thousands of articles about the coronavirus, through different views, such as mind maps, allowing to discover relationships between concepts. This provides researchers with better tools for systematizing knowledge in combating pandemics.
INSIGHT is based on artificial intelligence processing technologies, more specifically natural language, machine learning and deep learning. It has the ability to systematically capture, analyze, select and disseminate information to support strategic decisions by a company or organization.
Priberam is one of the companies participating in Covid Mapper, a project promoted by the Evidence-Based Health Institute of the University of Lisbon, financed by the Gulbenkian Fund for Response to Covid-19. Gulbenkian's objective, by supporting this project, is to give researchers a tool capable of facilitating their work, determining priorities and drawing attention to relevant developments in their areas of activity, explains the CEO of Priberam.
