Google celebrates with a Doodle, this Tuesday (19), the 200th anniversary of the Prado Museum, the largest in Spain and one of the most important in the world. Designed by architect Juan de Villanueva, the building was home to a natural science center before being converted into a museum by King Fernando VII and Queen Mara Isabel de Braganza. The place opened its doors to the public on November 19, 1819 with 311 paintings and under the former name of Royal Museum of Painting and Sculpture. It currently features a collection of over 5,000 items from artists such as Velazquez, Goya, El Greco, Rembranbdt and Rafael.
The Doodle exhibited in Brazil, Spain, and 28 other countries brings references to several famous paintings exhibited at the museum, such as Carlos V en la Batalla de Mhlberg, by Tiziano, and El cabecoero de la mano en el pecho. There are seven fictional works that together form the word Google and flank a painting with the facade of the museum in the center. According to the creator of the image, designer Nate Swinehart, it was necessary to develop a new digital painting technique to achieve the result that mimics an oil painting.

The Prado Museum is a must for anyone visiting Madrid. Located on the Circuito del Arte, next to the Reina Sofa Museum and other museums, the building occupies almost an entire block of one of the main avenues of the Spanish capital, Paseo del Prado. Given the length of the venue, the organization offers visiting plans ranging from one to three hours of sightseeing, depending on what the visitor wants to see.
The highlight is the collection of Francisco Goya, one of the leading European artists of the Contemporary Age who was alive at the time of the museum's inauguration. Since November 2018, when the bicentennial commemorations began, visitors have been able to explore 133 paintings and 500 drawings, among other documents about the painter. Among them are Prado's own collection, as well as works lent by the Palcio Real.
