Power management software issue makes Magic Mouse require weekly battery changes

Contrary to what was imagined, the constant changes of batteries in Apple's new Bluetooth keyboards and mice have nothing to do with the hardware of the products. Although they are demanding weekly changes which are taking a lot of people out of the picture, the two accessories are suffering from a serious software problem, proven by an experiment fromSoftpedia.

Technically this is good news, but the problem found by the website specializing in software is even childish, coming from a company like Apple: failure in power management. That's right: the Magic Mouse and Wireless Keyboard 2009 do not drain batteries, but their system for determining their useful life stops the two accessories from working when they reach approximately half the charge.

THE Softpedia managed to reuse the batteries considered “empty” by this system by inserting them in a wireless Mighty Mouse (or Apple Mouse, as you want to call it), proving that they were still over 40% full. At least it will be possible to fix this with an update for Mac OS X hopefully it is already on Mac OS X 10.6.3
