Photo Scan App: Learn How to Use CamScanner on Mobile | Productivity

Scanning a photo from your phone is a simple task with the help of CamScanner, a free application for Android and iPhone (iOS) that lets you scan documents. The app uses the smartphone's camera to capture the images and automatically frames it. If necessary, the user can make manual adjustments to improve readability of the photo or text. In the end, the file can be saved in the gallery, exported or shared on social networks or WhatsApp, for example.

In the following tutorial, check out how to use the CamScanner app to scan photos from your phone. The procedure was performed on an iPhone 8 with iOS 12, but the tips also apply to users of Google-powered devices.

Step 1. Download CamScanner to your mobile. When opening it for the first time, slide the input screens to the left. On the last screen, tap "Use Now";

Step 2. On the app's main screen, tap the camera icon and allow CamScanner to access your camera phone. Then take a picture of the image or document you want to scan;

Step 3. CamScanner automatically frames the document or photo. If necessary, drag the points over the four corners of the rectangle to adjust. That done, tap the button in the bottom right corner of the screen to crop the image;

Step 4. If you want, you can apply filters to improve readability of texts. The bottom bar buttons rotate the image, search for text, and change brightness and contrast. After making the desired adjustments, tap the button in the lower right corner of the screen;

Step 5. Use the "Email" or "Share" buttons to send the photo via email message or post to social networks or send via chat apps. Then choose the file format (PDF or JPG);

Step 6. Initially, you can post the image to Facebook or Twitter. Tap "Open In" for more app options like Gmail, Facebook Messenger, and WhatsApp.
