Application that scores for beauty or beauty meter is the new Internet fever. Pink Mirror is an image editor that improves people’s appearance in photos quickly and automatically. The differential of the tool, however, is that after performing a series of virtual aesthetic procedures, the site gives notes to the beauty of those in the portrait. The platform started to be successful on the Internet on Wednesday (9), when the youtuber Felipe Neto posted a video testing the Pink Mirror on people on his team and other celebrities.

After publishing the content, which is on the rise on YouTube, Google Trends, a tool that monitors searches on the Internet, registered a sudden increase in the volume of searches for the terms «beauty meter application» and «beauty rating application».

Pink Mirror’s results, however, can frustrate users’ expectations. To make the «magic» happen, the website requires uploading a front photo. From the image, Pink Mirror detects the shape of the face and analyzes aspects such as nose shape, mouth, chin and eye size. Smoothness and uniformity of the skin tone are also among the details evaluated by the application.
Once the qualities and imperfections are detected, Pink Mirror can perform procedures such as thinning the face, removing pimples, reducing expression lines and lifting the cheeks. After this virtual aesthetic treatment, the editor gives a note to the user’s beauty before and after the touch-up. It turns out that, most of the time, the app only brightens the skin tone and slims the users’ faces. dnetc even tested the free version of the service, but it did not succeed. The platform was loaded and did not show the edited photo or the beauty analysis.
