According to the blog Google Operating System, a new feature in Gmail captured by user Sean Leather, reveals tests of a PGP signature verification when attached to a message.

Although the new implementation has disappeared after being viewed, there is still the possibility of PGP signature checking back as an experimental feature of Gmail Labs.
