Patent to lock: “Premium Reseller” brand, iPhone light sensor and radio

Premium Reseller trademark registrationIn the eternal search for the absolute protection of its brands, Apple has just registered another one of them at the European Union's Trademark and Design Records Office. The highlight was the “Premium Reseller” seal, dedicated to resellers of products specially qualified and endorsed by Ma.

The brand was registered in seven exceptionally comprehensive international categories (009, 016, 035, 037, 038, 041 and 042), which encompass dozens of areas of activity, products and services, including the answer to life, the universe and everything else .

Two other records, these of inventions, cover present and future technologies of iGadgets. One of them concerns the brightness sensor present in all iPads, iPhones and iPods touch, which is used to adjust the brightness of the screen according to the ambient lighting conditions. A problem presented in the patent, however, is that the spectrum analyzed by this component is that of infrared waves, and not visible light.

Patent light sensor

In this way, an environment with fluorescent lamps can be recognized by the sensor as much darker than a place illuminated with incandescent lamps. Special lights for safety circuits could also cause readings that are completely different from reality, because they use precisely this spectrum of light. The invention therefore takes care of describing a way to make the sensor recognize visible frequencies of light to determine the brightness in a given environment. This could be done using one or more visible light sensitive layers to infer the intensity of different colors in the environment.

The other record is curious: an invention deals with the integration of the iPhone with car stereo systems, so that its radio stations saved on the smartphone would be automatically transferred to the other device. There's only one problem with that, which is that the iPhone doesn't have a radio.
