Paramount cancels The Lovebirds movie debut. Movie to be released on Netflix

Some stadiums are already neglecting film premieres in favor of launches on streaming platforms. The Covid-19 pandemic led to the temporary closure of thousands of theaters across the globe and although this is not the first premiere to take place on one of these services, the truth is that the first to take place on Netflix.

To date, stadiums have preferred to transition their premieres from cinemas to their own streaming services. Paramount is the first company to break the trend.

According to Deadline and the Hollywood Reporter, the American giant will debut The Lovebirds on Netflix. There are still no details on the date and geographical availability, but the film was scheduled for release on April 3.

Paramount films have a digital home on CBS All Access, so the decision to premiere a film in a direct competitor is a decision that raises some question marks. However, it is important to underline that the company has had a relationship with the streaming platform for a few years, which gave rise to works such as The Cloverfield Paradox.

The decision may also be due to the fact that the Netflix audience is considerably larger.
