OWC launches external Blu-ray recorder that reaches up to 12x speed

While Apple does not offer Blu-ray option on any of its Macs, some companies are already taking advantage of the need for some users to offer external solutions that allow them to read / write these discs with a certain efficiency and ease of use. Other World Computing (aka OWC) yesterday launched another launch in this medium, offering a consumer dream for those who like the idea of ​​enjoying this type of media on their computers.


OWC 12x Blu-ray

The new Mercury Pro makes it possible to record Blu-rays at up to 12x speed for comparison purposes, the SuperDrive installed on most new Macs reaches a maximum of 8x for certain media. In addition, the OWC solution burns DVDs at twice the speed of Apple optical drives and can be connected to Windows Macs and PCs via USB 2.0, FireWire 400, FireWire 800 or eSATA ports.

The novelty costs $ 350, bringing two Panasonic disks that support up to 25GB in capacity and all the cables needed for use with any supported interface. OWC also created a special package that brings a license of Toast Titanium Pro 10 for Mac OS X with the new product, for $ 400.
